How does insurance work with orthodontic care?
Many insurances cover at least some of your orthodontic care, but the coverage works a little different from your typical insurance benefits. Your orthodontic insurance benefit is commonly a set lifetime amount with a percentage.
Meaning, if your benefit is $2,000 at 50% and your treatment fee is $500, your insurance will pay $250. If your treatment is $4,000 or more, the max your insurance covers is the $2,000.
